Types of Deities
The wolves of RD believe in many types of deities. These gods and goddesses are believed to reside over the seasons, grant good luck, bless unions, or assist in things like war and healing. However, there are also believed to be bad spirits who strike the pack with sickness, starvation, or other unpleasant experiences.
Names and Origin
The deities' names and their profiles have been passed down through the ages; stemming from both the Mccreithan and Shourov lines. These are the oldest gods. Newer deities will be added upon Founders' requests. This is in place to set a foundation for the pack's religious beliefs and traditions, starting with the first members. In the future, deceased and revered members will be added to the deity list with their chosen type, symbols, powers, names, and spirit forms.
Representative Deity (Endowing Ceremony)
This is a term used to describe the god or goddess that best represents the personality of your character. Usually at birth, but not always, a chosen individual such as the pup's parents or guardians will choose the deity that they think best represents each individual pup. This process is fairly new in the history of Hajun's line, but he wishes to continue it within RD.
How does it work?
The Endowing Ceremony takes place immediately after or soon after a mother bears a litter. In the case of one parent being absent, or no parents willing to take part, a the chosen guardian or individual will do it. The one(s) who endow the pups are called 'Givers,' and the pups are called 'Receivers.' Each pup will receive his or her own deity, which will be decided on through an intuitive process. The Giver will close their eyes and quiet their mind, naturally accepting the first deity name that comes to mind. Once this is decided they will state the pup's name and deity, followed by a short description of that god/goddess. Note that the Receiver does not have to be a newborn, and one can take place in this ceremony at any age. No two pups in the same litter may have the same representative god/goddess, but those in different litters can.
Example: "I, Giver's Name, endow Receiver's Name with the representative deity God/Goddess's Name, god/goddess of friendship and lasting bonds.
A list of all the deities will be at the end of this post. Keep in mind that your deity can have a completely different personality than your character if you wish. They are ultimately there to be like a guide for your character, and may convey messages as they see fit. To get an idea of how this god/goddess may communicate, refer to their profiles. Main deities will have full profiles, and minor deities will simply have basics and traits.
